 BULLYING 101 TRAINING DVA Leadership & Development Training is partnering with Proviso West High School in November and December to provide its 2014 freshman class with educational development on Bullying.  School District 209 - Proviso West High School has more than 500 students in its freshman class from multiple feeder communities. DVA  staff worked with Proviso West principal, Oscar Hawthorne this summer to start a Peer Mediation program. Bullying is next on a list of youth and professional development strategies Hawthorne has planned for his students, staff and parents this school year. Bullying is defined as unwanted, aggressive behavior that involves a real or perceived imbalance of power.  It is negative, aggressive behaviors that are repeated with the intent of harm from one youth to another. Traditional forms of bullying like physical aggression, hitting, pinching, pushing and property damage remain an issue however in today's technological age...

Games that TEACH - Team Building

Tennis Ball Transfer This requires a large metal washer and a tennis ball for each group. The groups have to hold the strings and balance a tennis ball on the washer while walking and moving towards a plastic cup a distance away. Once the team successfully reaches the cup without dropping the ball, they have to work together to figure out how to get the ball into the cup without touching either one. Learning at Lunchtime with Proviso School District 209

Security is the first encounter for everyone that enters a Proviso School District 209 School building. Proviso greeters, security detail and new lunchroom security teams consist of close to 50 staff members.  DVA Leadership and Development Training was called in to reinforce the importance of good customer service for the new school year.  Using games that teach to support the leader-led lecture hi-lighted effective communication and boundaries as two of the major components of good customer service.
